Skunks!
If you've never smelled the stench of a skunk you should thank Allah (God)! Skunks are interesting, unique animals. They are native to North America and South America. Skunks often appear black with white stripes. However, they may also have brown or beige fur with either stripes or spots. Scientists categorize skunks in the family of animals called Mephitidae, which means means 'stink'. Skunks are best known for their ability to produce a liquid with a very bad smell. This liquid is produced in scent glands beneath their tails. Skunks spray this foul liquid as a weapon when they feel threatened. The horrible smell is difficult to wash away. Skunks are prone to carry diseases such as rabies, so it is wise to avoid them.
Skunks are usually solitary (live alone) except when they are mating. In cold climates, skunks may sleep together in a den to keep each other warm. They are found in the wild, although some people remove their scent glands and keep them as pets. Each buck (male) usually mates with several does (females). Each doe usually gives birth to two-ten (2-10) kits (babies). The kits are born with their eyes closed. It takes about three weeks for them to open their eyes. The kits will stay with their mother until they reach maturity, which takes approximately one (1) year.
