Marrakesh is a colorful, bustling city. It is located in the Kingdom of Morocco, North Africa. Rabat is Morocco's capital.
Marrakesh is a famous center of trade in Northern Africa. There are many markets, known as souks, in Marrakesh. Throughout these souks, one can purchase carpets, artwork, leather goods, clothes, special cooking pots called tagines, and much more. Tourists arrive from around the world to shop for unique Moroccan goods at Marrakesh's souks. A nation's culture (diet, hobbies, style of dress, etc.) determines its needs. For instance, in Morocco, one's needs include couscous and chickpeas for meals. In the Nation of Islam, one's needs are whole wheat and navy beans. Our need for these products allows us to develop businesses that create jobs and opportunities for trade. We make money when we produce products to satisfy our needs. Other people like our special products, and buy them too (like bean pies, clothes, and newspapers). What items can you make for sale or trade? |
Our Messenger teaches:
"The poor slave. After his masters let him go free, his first problem to solve was securing a home of his own for the first time. He must now do for self. Master is no longer responsible for him, he must solve his own problems. He must now realize that he must work hard to be equal of other nations. He must also remember that justice and righteousness is his defense and wickedness his enemy and the downfall of his government and his people. He must learn to make friends and to protect himself against enemies. He must dig into the earth for her rich treasures. He must now seek the friendship of other nations to do business with them and trade product for product. But if the slave is lazy, he will always be the slave for another. No nation respects a beggar." Message to the Black Man in America - A Nation of Our Own (pg. 229) |
